It's all about change

We feel there is a real need and a real opportunity for new ideas and new approaches to economic development which engender resilience at a local level. All of this is a challenge but also a major opportunity to learn lessons and explore different ways of regenerating our communities sustainably.

Developing resilience

The recession is serious and affects communities across the country. This does not mean that we should allow uncertainty to stifle our creativity or for inertia to become our dominant response. Recession means we now need to innovate, take some risks, create new ideas and have a renewed sense of action. The Summit will explore the strategy, policy and delivery required to forge resilient local economies.

The CLES Summit is something different...

This event is run by CLES’ own in house team and as such we have a passion for how it is run and the new thinking it creates. Previous delegates have commented on how it is real chance to think afresh and be stimulated in a friendly and welcoming environment.

What to expect at the CLES Summit 2009...

  • Be challenged by listening and participating
  • Be inspired by the ideas you hear and the people you meet
  • Be informed by good practice
  • Learn more about policy and the local economic resilience
  • Participate in lively debate and discussion
  • Be actively involved in the sessions with less PowerPoint and more opportunity to make your contribution
  • Develop different approaches in your own area
  • Create space for you to think and reflect
  • Have fun
