East Manchester Employment Creation
Client: East Manchester Community Network and Manchester Progressive Enterprise Network - May 2004 - September 2004
The aim of this commission was to identify ways of generating work for local people in East Manchester. This involved a desk review to gather and analyse data about the existing micro-economic climate; the local context to employment creation; and assets and community capital. We also reviewed successful employment creation initiatives from around the country, and consulted with strategic players and the community via an event and a series of project development workshops – all of which helped to inform the options appraisal element of the work. All the research findings were fed into the final report, which identified the key barriers and opportunities for employment creation, and also provided a basis for further feasibility projects.
