Transport Needs in Priority Areas
Client: Greater Manchester Passenger Transport Executive (GMPTE) - March 2001 - June 2001
In this work we researched the transport needs of people living in three deprived areas of Greater Manchester. Local residents were surveyed to ascertain current public transport patterns and usage, views of local transport services and how they could be improved, as well as ease of accessing employment, training and other services via public transport. We recruited a number of community researchers from local voluntary organisations to undertake the survey, and then provided their training and ongoing support. The results of the survey were analysed using SPSS and presented to the GMPTE in the final report, which also included a number of recommendations for the increased effectiveness of their public transport services.
