Fylde Coast Multi Area Agreement (MAA)

Blackpool Council, Fylde Borough Council, Wyre Borough Council and Lancashire County Council working with Lancashire Constabulary (Western Division, Northern Division), secured funding from the North West Improvement Network (NWIN) to develop a potential Multi-Area Agreement across the Fylde Coast of Lancashire. The aim of the project was to develop a multi area agreement and test out different approaches to joint working across local authority boundaries.
CLES Consulting was commissioned to provide support to the local authorities in terms of identifying key issues, facilitating the development of key interventions and supporting the development of new partnerships. CLES Consulting also provided support in terms of reviewing the overall process and identifying key lessons learned.
Key Findings/Outcome
The main outcome of the project was the development of the Fylde Coast MAA which was endorsed by Blackpool Council, Fylde Borough Council, Wyre Borough Council and Lancashire County Council. The MAA is the basis of an ongoing negotiation between the Fylde Coast Authorities, Government Office for the North West and central government departments.
