Smart City Futures Conference
Location: The Lowry Centre, Salford Quays
Organiser: Smart City Futures
Endorsed event. Organised by Smart City Futures
Cities all around the world are currently experiencing the present troubled economic climate, Greater Manchester is already a leading example of how its businesses, policymakers and communities creatively share their knowledge and expertise, Smart City Futures will build on that leverage, share best practices with other European and International organisations and plan innovative and new pathways forward.
The first two days (21st and 22nd July) Manchester Economic Commission (MEC) will initiate a discussion on how to improve Manchester’s competitiveness in these hard times, basing some of the discussion on the findings of the MIER report. These days will elicit discussions around where the Greater Manchester Universities, and its partners, could work together to boost innovation in goods and services, create new and enhance further current partnerships between policy maker, professionals and communities in order to create a bigger and stronger business base for the city region. The final day (23rd July) will take forward these thoughts and ideas and demonstrate what the Universities have already undertaken to help make local business and communities smarter – creating a real impact on the city region, along with practical ways all might develop for the future to go even further in preparing business and communities for the global knowledge economy.
