Local Economic Assessment Network Launch

CLES is hosting an event on 25th February 2010 in Manchester to launch a national Local Economic Assessments Network.
With all top tier local authorities required to produce Local Economic Assessments (LEAs) by Autumn 2010, there will be a number of challenges along the way in relation to: capacity; scale; data; and strategy. These challenges will be common across authorities with a clear need for shared learning and networking to overcome them.
CLES are therefore using this event to launch a national level Economic Assessment Network. Based upon a pilot process undertaken over the course of the last year the Network will provide LEA lead officers with the opportunity to meet upon a regular basis to discuss the challenges associated with specific elements of the LEA process and how they can be overcome.
The purpose of the launch event is to discuss Government policy on Local Economic Assessments and shape the future content and activities of the Network. CLES envisages activities to include: theme specific network meetings; action learning sets; and issue specific discussions. The evolution of the network is however to be practitioner driven reflecting your wants and needs in relation to LEA.
Below is an indicative programme for the launch event which will take place at the Mechanics Institute in Manchester on Thursday 25th February between 9.30 and 1.00.
