Jack Dromey MP – latest speaker confirmed for CLES Summit

CLES is delighted that Jack Dromey MP, Shadow Minister for Communities and Local Government, has confirmed that he will speak at the opening of the CLES Summit, Making places better, on 12th July.
Jack Dromey entered Parliament in 2010 as the Labour MP for Birmingham Erdington, having previously been one of Britain’s most well known and respected Trade Unionists. He served as Deputy General Secretary of the T & G union and then UNITE. He has led may campaigns to save jobs and win investment in manufacturing including campaigns to save Rosyth Royal Dockyard and Rover from closure and battles to secure orders for British manufacturing and aerospace.
He was central to the campaign for more affordable homes and in the successful drive to push Housing to the top of the political agenda. Jack was a member of the team that drew-up the Housing Green Paper which committed the Labour Government to £8billion investment in three million new affordable homes to rent and buy.
He was appointed Shadow Minister for Communities and Local Government following the 2010 election and also sits on the select committees for Business and Skills(BIS) and Regulatory Reform.
Jack will be speaking at the opening plenary on 12th July completing a strong line up of keynote speakers – Lord Maurice Glasman, Nancy Kelley of the Joseph Rowntree Foundation and Michael Ward, former Chief Executive of BURA and current Chair of the CLES Board.
